Chiwa almost wanted to
give up. She was searching for it but could not find. She was really troubled
by it for that thing was her passport in the office.
“Try to recall one
more time. You must have misplaced it somewhere,” said Jun.
“I guess so but I
really don’t know where I lost it.”
“Then, how did you
manage to escape from the guard and enter the building for two weeks in a row?”
Mrs. Nagisa asked.
Chiwa put her head down
and pouted.
“I waited for a
worker who comes to the office and followed him from behind.”
“I see, like a little
kitten.”
Jun and Mrs. Nagisa
chuckled.
“But do you know by
doing that, your actions are all captured by the camera. If this reaches to the
president you are going to be in trouble,” said Aya who came to give them the
Data Storage Monthly Report.
Hana was with her
too. Chiwa gulped. She started to get worried.
“The president will
surely get mad. Everyone knows the way he works. He is such a cold and strict
president. However, he is so handsome that girls just cannot take their eyes
from him,” Aya said again.
Chiwa looked at Mrs.
Nagisa.
“Ah, the little puppy
looks!” she said and chuckled.
Chiwa wished that this
will not reach to the president. She was really worried. Then, the manager
came.
“Chiwa, the president
wants to see you,” he told her.
All of them turned to
the girl. Chiwa’s eyes went big and little sweat ran down from her face.
“And please bring
this file to him,” he said as he handed a confidential file to the girl.
“Manager, why is the
president wants to see Chiwa?’ asked Hana.
“I have no idea but
it looks like something serious. Only the president knows,” the manager
answered.
Chiwa then slowly got
up from her seat and walked out from the department. Her face was really pale
as if there was no blood flowed through it. When she reached at the president’s
door, she took a deep breath and let it go slowly.
“Enter,” a voice said
from the inside.
Chiwa entered the room.
“I’m really sorry. I
didn’t mean to escape or anything. I just failed to recall where I put it,” she
quickly apologised as she bowed.
“So it is you who
were caught on camera, what a troublesome person,” the president said.
Chiwa bit her lips.
“You also have a
part-time job, as a flower-arrangement teacher,” he said again.
That was really shocked
news to Chiwa. Having thought that the company would never find out about her
other job was a big mistake. Workers must not have another job apart from the
current one they have. Once discovered, the company will not hesitate to
dismiss them immediately; that was what in the agreement said and Chiwa had
broken the rules.
“I’m sorry. Please spare
me. I don’t want to lose the job. I will do anything. You can punish me for
that but please, don’t fire me,” she begged.
“Punish?” he mumbled.
“Then, be my wife,”
he said.
“Yes, I will be-
WHAT??”
Chiwa looked at the
president. She frozen for a few seconds and went back to reality.
“How can I-?” she
asked.
The president looked
at her. His eyes were serious. There was no sign of smiling at all. Then, he
continued doing his work. Chiwa felt like she was being insulted.
“Mr. President, please
listen to me. How can I-,” she said in a high tone.
“I know about your
life. You are now living alone in the apartment because you have a financial
problem. Your father abandoned you and left you with a huge amount of debts he
could not afford to pay,” he cut her through.
Chiwa became
speechless. She had been shot back.
“If you become my
wife, all the debts will be settled,” he said.
“It’s easy for you to
say but you marry someone because of love,” she mumbled.
“Then, try to fall in
love with me,” he said bluntly.
“Are you and IDIOT??”
Chiwa was at her
boiling point. She had never been this mad to anyone before. Not to say, her
president made her acted like that. She quickly turned around to hide her red
face.
“You are right, Chiwa. Hokuto is an idiot,” said a voice.
“Madam?!”
It was the woman whom
she saved before. She was smiling at her.
“Welcome back,
mother,” greeted the president.
“Mother?”
“I must have been
rude for not doing a proper introduction to you the other day. I’m Shiriko Mamiya, Hokuto’s mother. Nice to meet you, Mia,” Mdm. Mamiya said.
The three of them
gathered at the tea room.
“I am your mother’s
best friend. I owed her a lot. She was my saviour as well. I did not manage to
attend her funeral last year, I’m very sorry, Chiwa-chan,” Mdm. Mamiya said.
Chiwa nodded.
“And your father,
ugh, how could he leave you like this. That is why I never agreed your mother
married him but she was really in love with him that she said she is willing to
be with him no matter what.”
“I see,” Chiwa said as
she took a sip of her tea.
“Aren’t you living a
hard time? Working here and there in order to settle the debts? Oh dear!
However, you don’t have to worry anymore, Chiwa-chan. The debts will be paid all
by me since I owed your late mother.”
“Heh?? No way-.”
“However I have one
condition. I would like you to marry my son,” Mdm. Mamiya said.
That was the second
time she heard about marriage from the mother and the son. Chiwa could not
decide. It was too sudden to her.
“Don’t worry, mother.
I will build a wonderful life with Chiwa,” Hokuto suddenly said as he wrapped his arm
around her shoulder.
Chiwa’s mouth wide
opened. Mdm. Mamiya was already in tears. She hugged the two of them and left
them after having her tea. Later, Mrs. Souma came with an envelope.
“I will leave this to
you, president,” she said.
Once the mother left, Hakuto, the president gave Chiwa the marriage form.
“Like I said before,
how can I marry-,” Chiwa refused.
“Are you going to
spend your whole life working only for the sake of paying the eight digits
debt?” Hokuto asked.
“Why are you willing
to go for this marriage when you also can refuse to do so?!” Chiwa fired back.
“Yes, I can refuse and
against the marriage but I have big responsibility. I cannot just refuse
without reasons. Why don’t you just agree with it and settle the debts?”
The president was
right. After giving herself a thought, Chiwa finally decided.
“I will go for the marriage,” she said in a low voice.
“I will go for the marriage,” she said in a low voice.
She signed the form.
The president smiled as he patted her head.
“That is very
rational of you. Remember, this is a confidential matter,” he said.
“Am I still allowed
to work here?” Chiwa asked.
“Of course. There
will be more challenging adventures for you in the future. Be prepared,” the
president answered.
“What’s that supposed
to mean?” the girl mumbled.
